Open standard text for reuse with attribution, plus controlled commercial components (certification, tools, marks).
Dual License Overview
HexEntry is published under a dual licensing model: the standard text is open for reuse with attribution, while commercial components (certification, tooling, marks) are controlled.
1) Open Standard Text (CC BY 4.0)
The following content is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0):
- HexEntry standard text (definitions, scope, confirmations, error/state dictionaries).
- Governance and RFC templates (text).
You MAY copy, share, and adapt the text for any purpose, including commercial use, if you:
- Provide attribution to [HexEntry Owner / Legal Entity].
- Include a link to the canonical source (this website or the official repository).
- Clearly mark modifications (including translations and local profiles).
You MUST NOT claim endorsement or certification by HexEntry unless you have written permission.
Attribution Format
Use one of the following:
If you modify the text, add: “Modified from the original.”
2) Trademarks and Brand Usage
HexEntry, the HexEntry logo, and any certification marks (e.g., “HexEntry Certified”) are trademarks or trademark candidates owned by [HexEntry Owner / Legal Entity].
You MAY reference the name “HexEntry” only to identify the original standard.
You MUST NOT:
- Brand a derivative system as “HexEntry” or use confusingly similar names/logos.
- Use “HexEntry Certified” (or similar) without a signed certification agreement.
- Imply sponsorship, partnership, or endorsement without written approval.
3) Commercial Components (Proprietary)
The following are not covered by CC BY 4.0 and require a commercial license or agreement:
- Certification programs, exams, scoring rubrics, badges, and coach accreditation.
- Software, tools, templates that enforce the standard (journal apps, APIs, dashboards).
- Any “official” integration program with prop firms, brokers, or platforms.
4) Contributions (RFCs / Pull Requests)
If you submit suggestions, RFCs, or contributions, you grant [HexEntry Owner / Legal Entity] a worldwide, royalty‑free, non‑exclusive right to review, use, modify, and publish those contributions within the HexEntry standard.
